2022 BMW X5, Hydrogen Review, Design, Engine
The X5 is definitely the legend of the SUV segment. It is one of the pioneers when these vehicles started to board. Now in the new generation we can’t wait to see more promotions. Certainly, the Bavarian auto maker has overwhelming send. There are two expected improvements for the 2022 BMW X5 One is already a known M package. The other SUV we want to see is Mixed Edition or PHEV. It can also appear as a fully electric model called iX5.
The standard version will remain unchanged. The new generation has reached the fourth generation in 2019 and there will be no need for facelifts in the coming years. The 2022 BMW X5 will take the unique design and space of seven passengers. Under the hood there are powerful and reliable units. Premium SUVs can be proud of the interior design and materials used for seats, dashboard and upholstery. The more advanced features will again become part of the group.
2022 BMW X5 specifications
Under the hood of the base version there is a 3.0-liter V6 engine. The turbo system is ready to offer 335 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. The start show is really impressive. The engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to all wheels. This is of course the well-known xDrive. With this engine, an SUV can tow 6,600 lbs and return 20/26 mpg. More importantly, the impression of driving is like driving a sedan, and it is one of the biggest advantages of the X5.
Another argument for buying the 2022 BMW X5 is the V8 engine. The twin turbo unit produces 455 hp and an evolution of 480 lbs. This engine increases the towing force to 7200 lbs, as well as fuel savings to 17/22 mpg. Outside the U.S., the X5 is also available with diesel engines. We had expected to see one of these units in North America, but the Bavarian automaker decided not to go.
2022 BMW X5M package
The biggest update for 2022 BMW X5 is the M package. This is a special set of features that will improve the appearance and specification of the SUV. The new model is spied and according to the first pictures, it will be more attractive than its predecessor. These photos show larger entryways and wheels, as well as modified headlights. Side skirts are more aggressive. What we can’t see but we can accurately predict are many M badges inside and outside the car. It’s still too early inside, but the company declares the 2022 BMW X5M as a “technical condition”. Expectations are high. The Bavarian rarely disappointed us.
Under the hood there is the same 4.4 liter engine that we saw earlier. However, it is tuned this time to offer over 600 horsepower and around 600 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration from 0-60 is sufficient in less than 4 seconds. The automatic transmission is under review and should be an M Steptronic eight-speed gearbox. XDrive is standard, as you would expect.
2022 BMW X5 date of the ninth release and the extent
Before fully electrifying, the 2022 BMW X5 offers a plug-in alternative. You will find this model as xDrve45e SUV. The new generation of mid-size SUVs introduced a new system that comes with a larger electric battery. Now the additional Hybrid X5 range has become 80 kilometers (50 miles). 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine of 280 hp. When adding an 82 kW engine, the output jumps to 380 hp and 440 lbs of torque. The maximum speed of xDrive45e is 145 mph and it reaches 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.
The next version is the 2022 BMW X5. It is a fully electric version of the SUV. It will build on the recently announced iNext concept. With a 300-mile range, he will challenge Tesla and Revian, as well as Ford running on his electric SUV. Larger batteries extend the range to 400 miles. Also, acceleration from 0-60 mph takes only 3 seconds, while the top speed reaches the limit of about 150 mph. Other details are not yet known. But the emergence of the iNext concept is promising.
2022 BMW X5 prices
Without changes to the 2022 BMW X5, we can expect prices to remain at the same level. This means that the base version of the V6 engine (xDrive40i) costs $ 61,000. Upgraded with a V8 engine (xDrive50i), the mid-size SUV will get $ 15,000 in total costs. BMW is currently offering the M Sport package. However, the M version raises the price to $ 105,000. If the electric model came out completely and got over 300 miles, it wouldn’t be very cheap. Are you looking for a cheaper offer, then xDrive45e Hybrid Plug is the solution.
2022 BMW X5 Hydrogen
BMW had been playing with the idea of a hydrogen compound for years, and the Bavarian tested up to a 7-series fuel cell in the mid-2000s. They will do the same with the current generation of X5, where luxury mid-size SUVs will produce a limited derivative of 2022 BMW X5 Hydrogen to serve as a test bed. I Hydrogen Next was previewed last September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and now BMW wants to share more details about the alternative powered X5.

Speaking of strength, the overall system power – including the muscles that come from the newly developed electric driving range shared with the iX3 – will be a respectable power of 369 hp (275 kW). The fuel cell system alone generates a massive force of 168 horsepower (125 kilowatts) of electrical energy as a result of the chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen from the surrounding air, with the car releasing only water vapor.
There are two tanks of 700 bar with six kilograms of hydrogen that can be refilled in 3-4 minutes, so it takes enough time to refuel a gasoline or diesel car.
