2021 Rivian R1S Review- Design, Engine, Release date and Price

The all-new 2021 Rivian R1S is the company’s latest model. Interesting, but we’re still waiting for Rivian to launch his first model ever. This model must be the R1T electric pickup. Soon after, the R1S SUV will follow the same path and see daylight. It will ride the electric SUV on the platform of the so-called “skateboard” and will provide an electric range of approximately 400 miles.

2021 Rivian R1S looks traditional and unique

Approaching 2021 Rivian R1S is very modern and powerful. The electric SUV has a classic block look and will be 200.7 inches long. For comparison, this is a few inches shorter than the Chevrolet Tahoe. Some parts look very traditional and outdated. On the other hand, the animated-like front frame is something completely different.

Oval headlamps are oriented vertically, and the long light bar acts as a charging indicator and daytime running light. Finally, you can buy R1S at its own variant that provides 14.3 inches of ground clearance. This flight height is more than what Ford Raptor has to offer.

2021 Rivian R1S Interior features

The upcoming SUV offers two interior configurations. In the Standard Edition, the 2021 Rivian R1S is a two-row model with a five-passenger room. Optionally, you can load the third row of seats and convert the R1S into a 7-wheel drive vehicle. You will have to do some maths because the 180kWh battery only comes with a two-row version. 2021 R1S will share several components with the R1T pickup. This includes the same screens, dashboard, infotainment system, and much more.

The dashboard differs slightly and looks minimalistic like the Tesla dashboard. Another interesting guide is the change of gears similar to Mercedes. No need to worry about luxury in the cabin. Rivian offers some great details, luxurious materials and a high level of comfort. Finally, Rivian said, the R1S SUV will come with a Level 3 self-driving force.

2021 Rivian R1S 750 hp engine comes with 400 miles per charge

Like the brother of the R1T truck, the 2021 Rivian R1S will deploy the all-wheel drive system. There are three battery options: 105 kWh, 135 kWh, and 180 kWh. It is interesting that Rivian will first launch models of 135 kWh and 180 kwh. A variant of 105 kWh will also be offered shortly thereafter. Fully electric SUVs use four motors / generators and provide up to 400 mph each.

According to the University of Michigan, the ride quality is impressive. Rivian recently submitted some bold claims. According to the latter, the R1S SUV will produce 750 hp and 829 lbs of torque. Plus, this model has a speed of 0 to 100 km / h in just three seconds. Finally, the R1S will be able to tow approximately 8,000 lbs.

2021 Rivian R1S price and release date

In terms of prices, the all-new 2021 Rivian R1S is not cheap at all. The price starts from $ 72,500. The Michigan-based company said production would start in the second half of 2020. As for competitors, the R1S will compete with the Tesla Model X, Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
